Pregnancy & Parenting Classes That Equip You for What’s Ahead
Becoming a parent can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. We offer free pregnancy and parenting classes designed to give you confidence, community, and practical tools for the journey ahead.
Hope 1.0: Parenting & Childbirth Classes
Our Hope 1.0 program is led by professionals in our community and is designed for clients who are currently pregnant. It covers key skills like:
Childbirth Preparation
Infant CPR
Healthy Relationships
Pregnancy Nutrition
Breastfeeding Basics
Newborn Care
You’ll attend 9 sessions over 3 months (meeting 3 weeks each month), typically during your second trimester and finishing before your due date. Whether you’re a first-time parent or simply brushing up, these classes equip you with practical knowledge and encouragement.
The program includes a break-out session for men during which they learn about being dads and can connect with other men. Plus, every three weeks you’ll celebrate your progress with graduation gifts like new baby items!
We love being able to provide these free opportunities for women and their partners to learn more about pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting. You’ll also have the chance to connect with other pregnant and parenting women in the Durham and Chapel Hill area, helping you build a strong support network.
Hope 2.0: Community & Connection Beyond Birth
Many parents have even more questions once their baby arrives — that’s why our support continues after pregnancy. Hope 2.0 is a monthly gathering for clients who’ve completed Hope 1.0. Bring your kids, share a meal, swap stories, and find encouragement from peers who understand what you’re going through. It’s a safe place to build friendships, share experiences, and know you’re not alone.
How to Attend
To join Hope 1.0 or 2.0, you’ll need to become a PSS client first with a quick intake appointment. From there, we’ll help you sign up for classes and get connected during the appropriate phase in your pregnancy.
Other Resources
If you’re not eligible for Hope classes or need additional support, we’ll connect you with other local pregnancy and parenting classes in the Durham and Chapel Hill area. Some are free, and others may have a cost—we’ll help you find what works best for your situation.
